My puppy thinks he's Superman.

I'm perfectly fine with that. When Thomas puts this little costume on Ronnie, the dog's entire demeanor changes. He stands up a little straighter. His ears perk up a little higher. He is SuperRonnie, the Magnificent.

I love my dog.

Happy Halloween to all of our furry little friends! If you're thinking of taking your pet trick-or-treating, here's a really helpful, informative article you might want to read first. Ronnie's going with us--no question!--but he's probably going to spend the evening watching over the city from the safety of Thomas'--I mean, Batman's loving arms. Oh, yes, there will be pictures.

Bonus Post! Be a Superhero! (Or, At Least, Look Like One)

Actually, I just got a chance to sit down and watch this, and it's one of my favorite videos Pixiwoo has done. It's sort of a stream of conscious, where Sam had to do a video and had no idea what to do, so she just started and kept going. You'll probably never want to go this extreme, but the video is hilarious, and the cat eye is pretty darn awesome. Enjoy!

It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's...an Angel?

I'm a bad blogger. I didn't watch the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show last night. I am so sorry.

To be fair, I had two boys in my house, and they really needed to focus on script re-writes for the next film we'd like to make. It's a great script, but there were a couple of minor details that caused some hang-ups, and they needed to be ironed out. The last thing they needed was a fashion show full of scantily-clad supermodels.

Oh--you didn't think they'd watch it?! Oh, good Lord, no! I think we can all agree that there's very little "sexy" about the VS Fashion Show. They'd be distracted by me, jumping up and down on the couch screaming, "Oh my God, that is so cute!! Thomas, look! Isn't her hair just precious?! I love those wings!! Wow!! Look at that!!"

No work would have gotten done.

So, in the interest of filmmaking, I skipped the show. I did, however, catch up with pictures this morning, and was especially intrigued by the Superhero segment. No, I did not say it was my favorite segment. In fact, it's probably my least favorite, but I did find it interesting.

The Good

1. You could see the products. Several of the other segments costumes covered the actual items found in stores. Feathers, jewels, and fountains of lace--while breathtaking--obscured the available garments to the point that I wondered why we were even bothering with a fashion show. The Superhero segment incorporated the bras and panties into the overall design, and I really appreciated that effort.

2. I thought that the choice to go with candy-colored costumes that looked as if they had been pulled off of a comic book page, instead of copying the more realistic styles found in today's movies was a smart one. By going with the more illustrated design, they avoided making the girls look like they were modeling "sassy" Halloween costumes. All in all, it was a more fashion forward decision.

The Bad

1. While the costumes were highly stylized, the girls hair and makeup were not. I understand that there's no time for that kind of change during a fashion show, but the finished look, well, wasn't. Gorgeous girls, though, so I guess being a little unpolished can be forgiven.

The Ugly

1. Unfortunately, many of the costumes just weren't as creative as they could have been. "Superhero" conjures up so many possibilities, and I felt like this was a missed opportunity. Don't get me wrong--they were very cute costumes, but just a little on the safe side. I got more of a "space-alien-sent-to-make-out-with-Kirk" kind of vibe. Maybe it's just me?

Honestly, I've not been too impressed with this costume since the original press photo came out, and that was even before I could tell that somebody forgot his Underoos. Then, I just didn't care for the fabric texture and the muted colors. Last I checked, Superman was supposed to be a bright beacon of hope. This one...well, I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley.

This is nothing against Mr. Cavill, of course. He's a fine actor and looks every inch the part. I just don't like the suit. At all.

You Are Not Saving the World Wearing That, Young Lady!

"Stop a bullet cold, make the Axis fold. Change their minds and change the world!" But please, first change your clothes. The David E. Kelly Wonder Woman television remake has been in the works for some time, and recently released a picture of the new Diana Prince (Adrianna Palicki) in full Amazonian Princess regalia. The reviews were...mixed, at best. A summation of the major complaints would state that it was an unpatriotic, trampy, hot mess of a cheap party-store Halloween costume. Ouch.

To be honest, I wasn't thrilled with it. The boustier top is fine. It is slightly--okay, extremely--reminiscent of a bad fairy costume I wore to a Halloween party when Thomas and I were dating (Come to think of it, he went as Superman, so maybe we had something there?), but I can deal with that. It does look like it would allow for more movement than Lynda Carter's original bathing beauty outfit. One thing it almost had going for it, though, was the pants suit bottom half. If you're going to be out on the mean streets, kicking bad-guy butt, it'd be nice to not have to worry about a sudden wedgie or getting a run in your hose. Unfortunately, the periwinkle blue clashed so badly, my first instinct was to wonder if they pulled it off of another costume and tacked it on at the last minute. Then, they finished off the costume with matchy-matchy periwinkle boots. I realize that matching your shoes to your tights/hose/skin tone makes for a longer, leaner look, but in this case, it just looked...well, unfortunate is the only word coming to mind.

Thank God someone in the costume department saw the light! The new costume is, dare I say, cute! Almost stylish, even. Sure, the bracelets are still silver, causing the actress in me to wonder why Ms. Prince would make the trim on her costume a contrasting color. What could be her motivation (I apologize for that)? Forgiving that, most of the other gripes I had with the suit have been rectified. Gone are the latex leggings, and in their place, JEGGINGS!! Alright, so maybe not jeggings proper, but darker, thicker, slightly more modest, star-studded pantalones. I'm also really digging on the red boots. She now looks less like a fetish model, and more like a young lady hitting the clubs. Sure, there's still a very high probability that she'll have someone ask what she charges per hour, but they'll probably be a nicer caliber of John than the original suit would have attracted. Really, though, it's no sluttier than most girl superhero costumes, and overall, while not perfect, it's a reasonable update to a tricky uniform. Now, let's hope we can say better about the series?
